Out to Play is committed to broadening access to connection with the land and outdoor play opportunities for children and families across urban Ottawa.
We hold space for the magic of childhood, for movement and expression, for the biggest voices and quietest sit spots, for wonder and questions, for make- believe and stories, for tree climbing, bug watching, trail wandering, and for unhurried time on the land together.
Out to Play offers Forest School, Field Trips, Summer Daycamps, and Therapeutic Services including 1:1 Respite and Child and Youth Counselling onsite at the Out to Play Centre in Nepean; and in accessible urban wild spaces across the city.
Out to Play programs are rooted in the Forest and Nature School approach that is child-centred learning and connecting through play on the land. Through deep connection with place through play, Out to Play programs centres child and youth mental health, wellness and well-being, and nurtures a life-long care for the land.
Environmental preservation and education threads through our play and learning, with an emphasis on caring for each other and the natural world. To learn more about Forest and Nature Schools we encourage you to check out the Child and Nature Alliance of Canada.
